πŸ“Œ The features are available for both delivery and pickup orders.

In this article:

1. What is a Large Order?

A large order is an order above a certain pre-defined subtotal dollar value where the size of the order requires:

  • Additional food preparation time, or

  • Customer to contact store to place order, or

  • Additional delivery or other ancillary costs

Additional food preparation time

This refers to a scenario where your usual food preparation lead time is estimated based on a family-sized order (e.g. a meal meant for 4 people) but the order placed is much larger (e.g. buffet meant for 50 people) and requires 2 additional hours of food preparation lead time.

Customer to contact store to place order

This refers to a scenario where you prefer your customer to contact you to place large order so that you can check if your store is able to accommodate such order, before deciding if the order can be accepted.

Additional delivery or other ancillary costs

This refers to a scenario where a large order will incur higher than usual ancillary cost which you intend to pass on to your customer (e.g. the large order will incur higher transportation cost or requires more manpower).

2. Large Order Settings

To set Large Order, go to (Menu Name) > (Store Name) > Pickup/Delivery > Pickup/Delivery Surcharges > Large Order > Add Large Order

Parameters that affect large order are as explained below:

Define the value of large order

  • Enter the order subtotal amount beyond which an order size is considered large.

πŸ“Œ This methodology is a quick and simplified way to define large order, and may not work as well if the items in your store have a huge disparity in food preparation time or price-to-volume/weight ratio.

Prevent customer with large order from checking out

  • Tick the checkbox if you prefer to have the customer contact your store when placing large order.

  • Enter the message that your customer will see on Oddle Shop when attempting to checkout with a large order.

Add more food preparation time for large order

  • Enter the additional food preparation time required to prepare the large order in Days, Hours, Minutes

Add surcharge for large order (Coming soon)

  • Enter the surcharge amount for higher ancillary cost due to large order if you intend to pass on such an increase in cost to your customer.

🚨 Please use this feature at your own discretion: It is not recommended best practice to add surcharge to large orders as doing so may negatively result in lowering your customer's average order amount or an increase in cart abandonment.
πŸ’‘ You can encourage customers to place higher value large orders by setting a Delivery Charge Override promotion to offer a waiver or discount off a large order surcharge.
