What is a card promotion
When a card promotion is applied, a customer receives the benefit of the promotion only if the order is paid using a specified debit or credit card. Such promotions are often offered in marketing sponsorship campaigns with card issuers (e.g. Visa, Mastercard) or financial institutions (e.g. banks). The financial institution which issued the card can be identified by the Bank Identification Number (BIN), which are the first four to six digits of the card used in the transaction.
How to set up a card promotion
Note: This feature is only compatible with Stripe payment gateway. Customers must pay via Stripe when a card promotion
is applied.
Before setting up a card promotion, you should establish a marketing partnership with a card issuer or financial institution. The card issuer or financial institution should provide you with the list of BINs which will qualify for the promotion. You can run a card promotion for any card issuer so long as the card brand is supported by Stripe. Stripe supports cards from most major card issuers (e.g. Visa, Mastercard, American Express).
Step 1:
Please contact us by live chat or email us at [email protected] to activate the feature by stating your menu name.
Step 2:
Once the feature is activated, set up a promotion in the OMS according to the requirement of your marketing campaign and enter the applicable BIN under "Card Identifier". If there are multiple BINs, separate them with commas without spaces. Only cards matching the stated BINs will be accepted at checkout when a card promotion is applied.
Tip: If a card promotion is applicable for all cards under a card issuer, simply
enter the first digit of the BIN under "Card Identifier". The first digit of the
BIN identifies the industry of the card issuer:
e.g.
- 4: Visa
- 5: Mastercard
