How to print Simplified Chinese characters on your receipt with Epson Thermal Receipt Printer
Updated over a week ago

This feature is available exclusively on Epson printers. Follow the steps below to enable Simplified Chinese Characters for your printer, allowing you to provide receipts with Chinese characters to your customers. Let's get started!

Before proceeding with the steps, ensure that your Epson Thermal Receipt Printer is properly set up and connected to your Oddle Register.

Steps to enable Simplified Chinese characters:

  1. Turn off the Epson Printer: Begin by turning off your Epson Thermal Receipt Printer.

  2. Enter the Mode Selection: Press and hold the "feed" button on the printer. While keeping the feed button pressed, turn on the printer.

  3. Print Printer Specifications: Upon turning on the printer with the feed button held down, a receipt showing Printer Specifications will be printed. You can ignore this receipt; it's just an indication that you are in the mode selection.

  4. Access Multi-Language Font Menu: Continue holding down the feed button for more than 1 second until the Mode Selection receipt is printed. This receipt provides you with various options for configuring the printer.

  5. Navigate to Multi-Language Font Settings: To access the Multi-Language Font settings, press the feed button quickly 3 times in succession, with each press lasting less than 1 second. After the third press, hold down the feed button until the Multi-Language Font receipt prints out.

  6. Switch to Simplified Chinese Characters: To change the current font setting to Simplified Chinese, press the feed button once. Immediately after that, press and hold the feed button on the second press until the Updated Multi-Language Font receipt prints out.

  7. Verify the Change: Check the Updated Multi-Language Font receipt to ensure that the Simplified Chinese setting has been successfully applied. If the change is correct, you can now proceed to restart the printer. If, however, the change is incorrect or you wish to revert to the previous setting, return to Step 3 and repeat the process.

Once you've successfully enabled Simplified Chinese Characters on your Epson Thermal Receipt Printer, it will now print receipts with Simplified Chinese characters as required.

If you encounter any issues during the setup process or need further assistance, consult the printer's user manual or reach out to Epson's support for additional guidance.
